The Moral High Ground, or "How NOT to talk to a Conservative"

All right.  The next person that asks me "How can you still be a Republican after Bush stole the election?" is getting a size 15 to the nuts.  Or hooch, whichever's there.  Whatever - I'm kicking.

Are you liberals so self-righteous that you actually believe that Democrats wouldn't commit election fraud to win?  You gonna try to take the moral high ground with me, the (seemingly) lone conservative with the huevos to tell my party that they're fucking up?

Bite me.  You want to help fix the Electoral System - wonderful!  Welcome to the party!  But don't judge me or think you know that "I'm really a Democrat, I just don't know it yet." 

I know exactly what I am.  I am a smart *citizen*.  I don't make up my mind before I hear any issue.  I don't back people because they have an elephant hanging from their rear view mirror.  I don't think people are stupid just because they drank the Nader Kool-Aid or signed up with a different party.

Listen - anyone who makes their mind up and sides with ANY one party, 100% of the time is a Fucking Fool.

Do you dismiss plans proposed by Republicans before you find out more, just because a "Repug" proposes it?  Fool.  I don't like a lot of Bush's plans, either, but that's because they suck, not just because it was proposed by an ass-clown.  Sometimes, Ass-clowns get things right!  You'll never know that if you don't listen and decide for yourself.

Not just hollering at Dems, either - this goes for Republicans, too!  It goes for anyone.  ANYONE.  A (possibly ex) friend of mine the other week kept saying "Well, you know what Rush says about Iraq..." "You know what Rush says about the UN" "You know what Rush says about..."

Yeah, I know what Rush says!  He says the same shit he's been saying since I was in high school, which is exactly what he's told to say.

Sorry, y'all, but if you grew up in NC like I did you'd be WELL aware that the Democrats try to steal votes every chance they get.

Both sides do.  This isn't about partisan politics or gun control or healthcare. 

Those issues are complicated, but this is not.  This is about Power.  It is no simpler or more complex than that.

Ever see a Democrat involved in redistricting?  He's manipulating the voter rolls to stay in power.  Same results, but for some reason it's legal.

Democrats are famous for getting votes from dead people and felons.

Remember Kennedy in 1960?  People roaming West Virginia with cash, buying votes?  And Chicago?

Anyone remember the 1990 Senate race between Helms and Democrat Harvey Gantt?  Democrat lawyers went so far as to find a liberal, black Democrat Superior Court Judge to order black precincts in Greensboro and Durham to be held open for several hours after all the other polls closed. BUSLOADS of black voters were brought in to vote - after hours! - and Gantt still lost.  But two Republican statewide judicial candidates narrowly lost their races because of the illegal votes that were thrown in the mix.

Oh my GOD!  The election was stolen!  How can you still be a Democrat after that?  What - you think that's terrible?  Well, you're just a Republican and don't know it yet.

Truly, human hypocrisy knows no bounds.

It's no secret that my party's current leadership and I don't see eye-to-eye.  I blame that on my being smart.  But that doesn't make me a Democrat as a result - I'm just left in the middle as they move to the right. 

Gun Control?  From my cold, dead hands.  Which they will be, if we don't get some Healthcare.  War on drugs - bad idea.  War on terror - good idea, handled badly.  Kill the bastards - IF they really have weapons.  (Big IF)

Death penalty - we need more of it.  Fuck it - line 'em up!  I haven't shot my Mini-14 in months.  Prostitution - should be legal and come with free health care.

Pro-life?  Pro-Choice?  Not my business.  If anything, I'm Anti-life.  Can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em.

Terry Schiavo?  Not my business.  Or yours.  If you followed that insulting grandstanding, you should be ashamed of yourself.  That's a family matter.  Hypocrisy all around on BOTH sides, trying to sieze the moral high ground (While Tom DeLay and his family pulled his father off life support in 1988).  Our elected officials, exploiting this family's nightmare for camera time - disgusting.  

And if my choices are tax and spend or borrow and spend, I choose option C - Common Sense.  How about we NOT pay interest on everything we need, huh?

Please, if you want to help, get over this partisan shit.  Don't just SAY you're non-partisan.  Be it.  Then you can call a spade a spade and stop pussyfooting around, scared to say what you really think for fear of sounding like a "sore loser".  Fuck that - show me a "good loser" and I'll show you someone who loses often.  If you're wronged, fight it!  Of course the other side is going to dismiss you - and if it works, they win!  Duh - that was easy. 

I understand that you're pissed off, and you're right to be.  Me too.

But if you think that your leadership wouldn't try the same thing, you're wrong.  And before you decide which camp I belong in, maybe you should decide if one reason you're pissed off is because the Republicans pulled it off instead of the Democrats. 

Honestly, if Kerry won, would you still be fighting this battle?   

Maybe, maybe not.  Figure it out for yourself.
